Title: Just Breathe
Rating: G
Involving: Nick Lidstrom/Nik Kronwall
Summary: Nik suffers from Stockholm syndrome: that is, falling in love in Stockholm.

They’ve got a few more minutes to party before they go back to North America, and they’re intent on making the most of it. After all, once the party is over they have to come off this high: they have to go back to being their regular selves (no longer larger than life heroes), leading their normal lives (normal for a Red Wing in Detroit, anyway).

The music is numbingly loud and the sea of blue and yellow is roiling, and they are lost in the midst of it. He’s sticky and wet from being sprayed with champagne; he’s red faced and panting from laughing so much; they’ve got a gold medal between them as they dance pressed against each other. If anyone sees, they can blame it on the celebration, and that is if anyone sees. Everyone is ecstatically, blindly drunk.

Nik feels the leg between his, feels the burning hot hand at the small of his back and can’t help dipping a little lower, grinding a little harder. It forces his partner to do the same because the medal ribbon is looped around both their necks, but he knows his partner doesn’t mind. He knows as his partner leans down to kiss him, hungry and searching and insanely soft.

Nik reaches up to grip at wide shoulders and his fingers brush by the medal. Yes, the decision to give up his medal was the best idea he’d ever had because now he’s got one to share.

“Love you,” Nik gasps.

“You more,” comes the reply, traced out by lips against his throat.

It’s starting to really snow and Nik tilts his head back, letting the flakes cool his cheeks. He doesn’t want to forget this moment, ever. Tomorrow they will have people waiting for them, expectations and obligations, but tonight they have just each other, just this gold, just holding on too tightly because they can’t get close enough.

Nik closes his eyes and just breathes.
